Outstanding Nutrition for Potatoes

Helping establish a strong foundation for your potato nutrition plan starts in the soil.

Sea2Soil is a cold-processed fish hydrolysate soil improver that supports both the soil microbiome and the crop directly. Rich in naturally balanced amino acids and fatty acids, it also contains essential nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, alongside bioavailable micronutrients including calcium, magnesium, and other trace elements.

Why potato growers use Sea2Soil

Supports soil biology and nutrient cycling

Sea2Soil provides a highly nutritious food source for soil microorganisms. Beneficial soil bacteria help convert nutrients into forms readily available to the plant — supporting more efficient crop function and growth.

Strong nutritional base

Sea2Soil contains essential nutrients and bioavailable trace elements, helping boost and replenish soil nutrient content and support optimal plant health and growth.

Best used early when the crop is establishing

In all crops, it is better to apply Sea2Soil early while the crop is young and first establishing. This optimises soil health benefits and gives maximum advantage when crops really need it.

Convenient, versatile application

Sea2Soil is easy to apply and compatible with many plant protection products for added convenience.

Recommended use rates and timing for potatoes

Spring provides an ideal time to boost soil health and optimise early crop nutrition in newly growing crops. This process can take time depending on soil conditions (for example, temperature and moisture), so earlier applications help maximise benefit.

Potatoes

Spray 10 L/ha (soil applied) pre-emergence, or as soon after drilling as possible. Follow up with up to 10 L/ha in late spring.

Contact the team if you’d like help sense-checking timings against drilling date and your late-spring programme.

Foliar Application

5 to 10 L/ha
*Multiple applications can be made in the season — up to 6 times a year.

Direct Soil Application

10 to 20 L/ha

Recommended Dilution

1:250 in 100-200L/ha water

How Sea2Soil supports soil and potato crop function

Fish hydrolysate can be utilised by the soil microbiome and the crop directly. Sea2Soil supports beneficial soil bacteria that convert nutrients into a form readily available to the plant, helping crops function and grow more efficiently.

Sea2Soil contains a full range of naturally balanced amino acids. L-amino acids can be taken up by the plant directly for protein synthesis, while D-amino acids support soil bacteria and soil health.

Application methods and practical guidance

Sea2Soil can be applied (after dilution) in different ways: directly to the soil, as a foliar spray, or through irrigation systems.

Suitable Irrigation Systems

  • Direct-to-soil application methods
  • Drill-mounted liquid fertiliser applicators
  • Fertiliser streamers
  • Foliar application methods
  • Standard hydraulic crop sprayers
  • ‘Tow & fert’ type systems (for applying with other fertilisers or plant protection products)

Filtration / equipment

Filtration and sprayer care: Sea2Soil is pre-screened (filtered) to 100 μm but may contain larger particles. Screening is recommended prior to application through fine filters, and filters within the equipment should be thoroughly cleaned after each use.

Important note

Always seek advice from your agronomist before applying Sea2Soil for use in organic production. Not to be applied to any edible parts of crops.

Tank Mix Compatibility

Sea2Soil is compatible with a wide range of products, including certain fungicides, herbicides, and PGRs.

When tank-mixed with herbicides in foliar applications, the fish oil content acts as a natural surfactant, which can enhance spraying performance.

For full details on the latest compatibility testing, please contact us. It is advisable to complete a simple compatibility bucket test before mixing in the sprayer tank.

Sea2Soil is filtered to 100 μm but may contain larger particles. Screening prior to fine filters is recommended, and filters should be cleaned thoroughly after use.

Typical programmes include a ten L/ha application pre-emergence (or as soon after drilling as possible), with follow-up applications at key growth stages (for example, four to six leaves in autumn, then before stem elongation in spring for winter crops).

Spring is an ideal time to boost soil health and optimise early crop nutrition. Apply early while the crop is young and establishing.
